Gerald Slaven has been helping their local community for many years through their long-term support of many organisations including Soldier On, Rise Above, and The Tuggeranong Bushrangers.
Now, with their new initiative, The Community First Program, they’re helping even more local groups achieve their goals. The Community First program is a simple concept. The community nominates their favourite ACT charity, community support group, or sporting club, and the locals vote on who they feel are the worthy recipients of a $500 donation toward their goals. on a monthly basis.
Registration for support is quick and simple on the Gerald Slaven website, with 3 nominations being selected each month for voting on by the Canberra community. All voting and announcements are through our relevant FB pages. Whether you follow Ford, Jeep, or Volkswagen FB, there’s a Facebook page for you to follow and vote on.
The first recipient to receive the bonus funds in July was local baseball club, the Belconnen Bandits FB who will use the funds to help complete the construction of a roof over their batting cage, making it usable in wet conditions. On collecting the cheque for the club, Pat Biden said “It’s incredibly difficult to raise funds as a not-for-profit sporting club, so to have this kind of support from Gerald Slaven is fantastic”.
The August recipient, with an overwhelming number of votes, was Canberra Pet Rescue. Brian Yeboah from CPR was thrilled to receive the donation saying “This kind of donation is desperately needed to help save and support many gorgeous animals in our care. We can’t thank Gerald Slaven enough for this”.
If you’re involved with a local charity, sporting group or support group and would love this kind of help, nominate your group on our community first page.
